March 23. Deploy, Delegate or Delay?

Mark Queen • Mar 22, 2024

What are you holding onto that someone else can do?

Companies are about building teams. Business owners know this. They take a service or product idea and build systems and processes around them. Those processes are deployed by people throughout the organization. But that organization is not done in a haphazard way.

There is some very important thinking involved about how to best get it done. And then there is the delegation of the tasks and responsibilities that the company’s teams put in place to make it happen. Sales and marketing work with the advertising team.

Production works with logistics to get items to the right place in the right shape at the right time. The management team works through all those systems and delegates responsibilities to bring it all together for the value to be received by the customer.

Where are you missing the opportunity to delegate and work with a team? As a business owner and leader, we might consider looking at the least likely place and think how we might be able to delegate just a part of that task.

In Luke 7:1 NLT, we read about Jesus when he is in Capernaum. A Roman officer had a member of his entourage who was deathly ill. The officer had heard of Jesus miraculous healing and sent word for Christ to save his person.

Even the Jewish elders supported the request as they knew of the support the officer had given to them. The officer had supported the building of a synagogue for them. But as Jesus approached the place of the sick, the officer sent word that he was not worthy of Christ's presence.

He need not bother himself with coming. All Christ needed to do was to command it. The officer understood delegation as he received it from his superiors and gave it to his troops that he commanded. When Jesus heard of the officer’s request, he was amazed.

Christ had not yet seen faith of someone like this in all of Israel. What has Christ asked you to do, and you have not followed through with that delegation? Where has your faith been weak and therefore you believe that you are the only one that can take care of something?

Is it time to get it done? In the name of Christ, who might be able to step in and accept the invitation to collaborate with you? What can you get done in the next seven days that you have been asked to delegate but you have been putting it off?

Let us pray, Heavenly Father, we are weak and scared many times during our lives. We believe sometimes that we are so strong that no one else can do something. It might keep us from you Lord.

Help us to recognize where we might be able to answer the call where Christ has delegated a task for us to do that might honor you. May we accomplish it with your guidance now. Help us to delegate, deploy and not to delay. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
