March 22 Is It Time To Get Small?

Sometimes it seems like I should be moving towards something bigger. Do you ever feel that way? I think that there can be both a pull of a bigger future and a pull of your past. It is like there is more than I have or am now, but it can lack definition as it is unknown.

There are many places in our lives as an entrepreneur, parent, spouse, and leader that I know that the pull happens. It is that question of why that seems to matter the most about the pull at the beginning. The how I get there is important and what I do to get there makes a difference as well.

But to get there I really need to be brought back from the big of the future to the small of the moment. I know why I exist, why our services and products exist, and why I am in relationship with my family. But to have an impact in my why, I need to get small. I need to work in the now.

How about you? What will you do today, just today? Are we going to be purposeful with our impact in the present, which will shape our future? The why and the impact are not removed from one another but directly linked in an exponential manner.

If we are not in the now, we are reducing the exponential effect on our future. What can you do today that will bring value and will bring stronger relationships? These both will serve a bigger future. How do we lead if we fail to keep our ability to do both?

What is the first thing to do about it in the next seven days?

As a man of faith, I am called to be present as well. What about you? Am I being present in the relationships that I am in? Am I listening, loving, and leading those that need my leadership? Will I be faithful and following in the footsteps of Christ who leads me? He is the Christ that leads us?

Our present actions in our Christian journey can have an impact just as they can in our personal and professional worlds. They set the stage for exponential growth. I like the idea of exponential growth of my relationship with Jesus.

Would you like to have ten times your net worth today or ten times the closeness of your relationship with Christ? I am not speaking against one versus the other but drawing attention to the fact that we need to be present, in the here and now to make either happen.

What are we doing in the next seven days to set the stage for that exponential growth of our relationship with Christ? In Luke, we read a section of scripture called the Beatitudes. When I read them, I feel that Christ is speaking directly to me. He challenges me right where I am, in the here and now.

What am I going to do when he speaks to me? What are you going to do in the here and now? If you want to challenge yourself, find your Bible and read Luke 6:20-23. Digest it and see what is in store for you today. What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?

Let us pray, Heavenly Father, today is the day the Lord has made. Today, that is where we want to be. Help to guide me today. Make the future hold the growth of my actions which occur right now. Bring me into focus for what my impact needs to be with those that I am in relationship with.

Move those as you desire that I might need to be in a relationship with. Let me be listening and insightful so that I know how to serve them. Make the words of my mouth and the actions from my heart be acceptable in your sight. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
