September 28. Why Wait For Rain?
Where are you in doubt or drought? Start with Living Water.

Before I start todays devotion, I have a favor to ask of you. If you have not posted a review of the devotional on Amazon please do. For us to transform the world, we need to share with others. Your review matters. What you write as a review just might be the trigger that leads someone to connecting with Jesus because of this book. Go to amazon and search for "Shoulder to Shoulder".
Do leaders suffer from droughts? Droughts happen in many ways. They happen when a lack of rain harms plant life and crops. We can have business droughts and relationship droughts as well. These are times when we are missing a significant part of our purpose, of our value delivery system.
The farmer and rancher that suffers from a drought have to seek their water. They haul water to their livestock and farmers must irrigate. But when you as a leader suffer from drought, do you seek more or do we go into some kind of wait and see mode. As a leader, much like the rancher, we are called to seek the water.
We do not need to wait for the drought to stop as our teams need us more than ever at these times. When relationships are in a drought, they need us to bring energy and communication. Where might you be in a drought in one of these areas?
What can you do to haul some water like the rancher, to end a drought? We are called as a leader to challenge the limits of the droughts in our lives. What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?
As a people of faith, we can experience times when we feel alone. Times where we are not close to Christ. We suffer from a drought in our faith. Often, it is our decisions and actions that lead to these droughts.
We read, "They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.” Jeremiah 17:8 NLT. Where have you suffered a drought in your faith in the past?
As you reflect upon it, do you see some choices that lead up to the drought? The key is that a "choice" is almost always ours to make. When will we forgive and realize that we can haul water? When will we repent, so as to come to the river and be refreshed? The sooner the better.
Let us reject the droughts when we can see that Christ can make it rain. Jesus granted us permission to have those choices and he is called the living water. Where might you be needing some water today because you might be in a drought in your faith? What is the first choice you can make in the next seven days?
Let us pray, Jesus, you are the living water. We pray today that our choices will allow us to drink from that water. Quench our thirst. Quench our droughts. Let our anxiety be drowned by your water of peace. Let rains of joy soak us to the bones. May we stand in front of you, dripping with drops of love, making a pool reflecting the glory and honor to you. In Jesus’ name, we pray.
