March 5. Is Continous Building Of Reserves Counterproductive?
Sometimes we need two hands to catch.

There are times that reserves are a good thing. In business, we keep some financial reserves, and some employers even keep reserves in the employment pool. Employees tend to store their vacation and sick pay as well. These are examples of some of the ways that we keep reserves.
But they can also hold us back. Where might we be keeping reserves that are no longer needed in the old ways? Does your business really need six months of revenue to cover payroll anymore? That reserve of capital means that it is capital not at work.
You might have a line of credit now that you did not have when you started your business. Why not deploy the capital into people which can deliver more value to others? No matter what type of reserve we keep, reserves sometimes hold us back.
What are three of the largest reserves that you are keeping today? Are any of them too big and how would you redeploy those reserves in a valuable way? There might be strategic projects or products you could launch. What is the first thing you can do to address your reserves?
In the book of Mark 13:14-18 NLT, Jesus spoke about the time to flee. When it occurs, people are to leave whatever they are doing immediately. If you are on the deck of the house, you do not pack but go directly downstairs and leave.
There is no call to go get your extra bag, no luggage needed, just go. How often is our automatic reaction to count on our reserves instead of counting on God? If your shelter was just at the start of catching on fire but not containable, we might be tempted to grab something before running out of or away from the fire.
Many might be tempted to even run back in and grab something. We like that which we have obtained in the past. But sometimes when we go forward, we will need both hands free to catch and accept what is about to be encountered.
If our hands are full how can you catch what is coming. I suppose you could try to catch something with your teeth. I have seen people in my past that got hit with an issue that seemingly smacked them in the face.
It is difficult to catch things with your teeth or face and it is generally going to result in pain and damage. Where can we reduce our reliance on the things of this world? They are the reserves of the world we think we control. God intends us to catch his gifts in our hearts, not with our face.
I believe God has a bigger use for you. What is the first thing that you can do about lowering our worldly reserves and accept the gifts that God has in store?
Let us pray, God you can provide everything we need. Help us to count on you more. Let us engage and lean into our relationship with you and on our reserves less. Help us to look past our worldly reserves.
Open our eyes to put our reserves into action for your will as we surrender to the comfort of the palms of your hands. Nothing compares to the palms of your hands. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
