December 2. I Have Breaking News!
Restored, remade, repaired, redone, redue all require action.
As leaders of families and organizations we can expect both the good times and the bad. But leadership is not about dread but about deliverance. It is about the value. Our value proposition does not have to go away when our feelings of happiness or success are absent.
I remember seeing an interview of the losing pitcher for a World Series game. He chose not to be sad and live in "dread of defeat" but chose to see what they did accomplish. He did it regardless of the reporter’s desire to hear the dread. He saw the value that his team provided to the fans, to the vendors, to their city with taxes, entertainment, and spirit.
We can remember that when we have a value delivery system it never, never, never has to stop working. Who on your team might be derailed by life and be choosing dread over deliverance right now? As a leader, we can collaborate in ways that can help all of our team transition from dread into delivery.
It can be a difficult transition when we are alone. But bring another person or two that are the right fit people at the right time, and dread can disappear quickly. That is the power of collaboration at its best and it can help us to grow exponentially. Just think how fast we can leave dread behind.
Those moments will happen, but they will only represent a very short part of our lives if we choose it. There is no reason that your interview must have a camera crew to help to bring deliverance. Your interview may be the one that you lead with others on your team. What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?
As brothers and sisters in faith, we live in societies that challenge faithful living as Christians. Our lives are full of choices. We either choose Christ or we do not. We then choose daily just how well we will follow.
We read, "“I know that you live in the city where Satan has his throne, yet you have remained loyal to me. You refused to deny me even when Antipas, my faithful witness, was martyred among you there in Satan’s city.” Revelation 2:13 NLT. Loyalty, are we choosing to be loyal to Christ with our words, thoughts, and actions?
No one told me it would be easy to do. Sometimes it is not, but I can look to those in my faith journey to lift me up. We can do our interviews with our friends, Sunday school participants and our pastors. No television crew and no reporter needed. The value of our faith will not be measured by the news team.
It is measured and delivered by Christ. Perhaps we might consider the news broken. Is the news and information that you are listening to or reading bringing you joy and happiness? If not, maybe the news sources you are using are to be considered broken.
Where can you collaborate with others in your faith this week? There is no need to wait until the next worship service. Just reach out to someone as if you have a breaking news story and collaborate as Christ has called us to do. What is the first thing that you can do about it in the next seven days?
Let us pray, dear Jesus, there is nothing more valuable than you. Thank you for our brothers and sisters in Christ who help us live in a world where reporting on others is acceptable. May we live life today in a way that makes what you have shared with us the top story. I want my breaking news to be about you today. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
