August 25. Accountability Battles Complacency.

Mark Queen • August 24, 2024

Just because it is normal does not mean it is desirable.

As a leader of families and organizations, is our focus is to be on value? We would be wise to remember in their natural state they will go through a lifecycle and decay. By adding value, we grow those resources. The most valuable item a leader has at their disposal is its people.

Where are you adding value to your team members? Are you helping them to grow, to do things smarter, and to use their unique abilities? Keeping your team of resources in their original state is limiting. That is not a value focused approached. Where might you have limited your team?

As leader, we are the ones who prepare an accountability system to address value through the organization. That accountability starts with the leader and it ends with every member of a value approached team.

The story and history of Moses is familiar to all those who have seen the Charlton Heston portrayed Moses in the movie, "The Ten Commandments.” He was a man of God, and victorious in moving the nation of Israel. But his actions were not enough for Gods intent for us today.

We read, “So if the old way, which has been replaced, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new, which remains forever!” 2 Corinthians 3:11 NLT. Gods value to us through Moses was enhanced by Jesus. It is easy for us to get complacent when we have success.

Complacency is not valuable. It is not part of a growing or valuable energy. As Christians, can we find an area or two in our own lives where we have been limited by our complacency? There is so much capacity to love others and the need for our love is all around us. Where are you not growing but keeping status quo?

We just might find some of Christ if we dare to venture on that part of our faith journey. What is the first thing you can do about it in the next seven days?

Let us pray, Heavenly Father, thank you for men like Moses and women like Mary. Nudge us to move from our complacency. Move us to leave the actions of sin and to engage one another in the ever-growing love of Christ. Bind our growth to be with you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
