April 27 Who Has Tickets For The Show And Backstage Passes?

Our sphere of influence is larger than we often think.

How many people are connected to your entrepreneurial team? It is an easy question, but it is more difficult than you think. Go ahead take some time to think about your answer before you read on. Your count is probably too low. Did you remember to count the customer and his family?

What about your business-to-business associates that support your value proposition, your vendors, accountant, bookkeeper, attorneys, and insurance people? We have internal and external team members regardless of whether you work with a for profit or not for profit enterprise.

There is a lot going on backstage. We can look at the delivery of your product or service as being delivered on front stage. The rest of the team is backstage or offstage and out of the building. The basic concept of front stage and backstage is one that I learned from Strategic Coach.

Does everyone who is backstage come out to deliver the performance? The answer is no, they probably do not. We might bring them out occasionally. Is anyone on stage currently that does not need to be there? We might ask who we should bring on stage occasionally.

Everyone likes to be appreciated somehow. Is there any value to bringing people onto the stage? If not, then we are not maximizing the value for the clients when extras are there. On which stage do you maximize your value? Where are you spending most of your time, front, back or off stage? What can you do about it over the next seven days?

In the book of Judges, we read about a prophet named Gideon. A favorite story from Gideon is something that relates to the resources we have and use. Gideon was sent to fight a king. At first, Gideon has a large force with him, God has him send back anyone scared, but that still leaves a bunch of people on the front stage for battle.

He sends some more back by sorting the people by how they drink their water. As a result of the separation, he has a bunch of people backstage and just what is needed on front stage. God wanted the minimum on the stage so that he would be glorified, not Gideon.

In our relationship and walk with Jesus, where are we on the stage when we should not be? I think in the early days of our relationship we might be scared to take the stage when we need to be there. But we need to remember who the director is and how to glorify and honor him.

Where might you be hanging back when you should not be? We need to watch and pay close attention to our calls to be on the stage as well. Both are important to honor Christ. Where are you thinking that an adjustment to front, back and off-stage activity can change? Change the limit.

What is the first thing you will do about it today?

Let us pray, Jesus, you are the star of the show. You have asked us to be part of the cast. Help us to hear your call to come on stage as needed to honor you. Make our work on stage and off, be so that we might become in relationship with the lost and bring them to you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen,
